The Balochistan High Court ordered the Metropolitan Corporation to reopen Quetta's largest cattle market on the Eastern Bypass on Tuesday.
A two-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and comprising Justice Nazir Ahmad Langove heard the petition against the closure of cattle market on the Eastern Bypass.
Advocate General Arbab Muhammad Tahir, Additional Advocate General Shehak Baloch also appeared in the court.
"Under what law was the cattle market closed?" the court asked. In response, the administrator Quetta informed the court that "an FIR has been registered against the persons involved in the incident and the contractor.”
“Legal trade is a constitutional right of every citizen. Business is allowed on metropolitan terms,” the court responded. “Competent authority can take action on violation of conditions.”
It is pertinent to mention that some elements had caused a commotion nine days ago over violation of SOPs and not allowing traders with high temperature to enter the market.
Administrator Metropolitan had sealed the cattle market on the Eastern Bypass for damaging and setting fire to government property.
The closure of Quetta's largest cattle market caused hardship to traders and citizens. On the orders of Balochistan High Court, the market has now been reopened with SOPs.
