Faisalabad police register two rape cases
Two women have lodged rape cases in the city, police officials said on Saturday.
The police started raids to arrest the accused after registering the cases. A resident of 203RB Malikpur stated in a case registered at the women's police station that she had a dispute with her husband.
She said the accused Wasim called her to Aminpur bazaar on the pretext of arranging reconciliation between the couple. The accused took her to a house where he raped her at gunpoint, she alleged.
In another report lodged at a police station, a woman of Nishatabad area 6GB said her friend Asiya took her to her quarters where her husband Ashraf along with an accomplice sexually assaulted her at gunpoint. The police registered the case against the accused.
Cases of sexual assault have been on the rise in Faisalabad. On June 7, the body of a seven-year-old boy was found by local residents and police claimed that the victim was abducted two days earlier from D-Type Colony and sexually assaulted. The body was reportedly thrown into a canal in Dijkot area.
On May 23, a teenage girl was gang-raped by five men after being abducted in Landianwala area. Details obtained by The Express Tribune revealed that Ali Akhtar, a resident of Chak No 145GB, Jaranwala, lodged the case at Landianwala police station. He stated in his complaint that on the night of the incident, an unknown armed man entered the victim’s house by climbing the wall, oke up the family at gunpoint and began searching their rooms.
He looted Rs50,000 cash and gold jewelry from a trunk and also abducted an 18-year-old girl on a motorcycle for sexually assaulting her.
On April 16, police conducted raids to arrest three men nominated in a rape case by a woman in Kokianwala area. The woman told the police that she was asked to collect ration from a room in the home of one of the accused, Rashid, near Jameel Park.
The complainant, a resident of chak 224RB Wazir Khanwali, said Rashid, Dilawar and Shakur molested her repeatedly despite her screams. She said the accused later freed her and gave her ration and money to cover up their crime. She also informed the police that Dilawar and Shakur were acquaintances of her husband.
On April 10, a woman reported that she was sexually assaulted during a robbery in Thikriwala area. Police said detailed investigation into the incident was needed.
