PAC to quiz CDA over state of Parliament Lodges
A sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee, while expressing concerns over the deteriorating condition of the Parliament Lodges, has decided to summon the chairman of apex civic agency of the federal capital.
A meeting of the sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Parliament was held under the chairmanship of Raja Riaz Ahmed.
The meeting reviewed the audit objections of the Ministry of Housing and Works.
The committee was briefed about the state of cleanliness, repair and maintenance in the Parliament Lodges for which the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is responsible. Subsequently, the committee decided to call the CDA Chairman Aamer Ali Ahmed to give a briefing on what the authority has done.
Moreover, the committee has directed to form a sub-panel to review the matter of trees being chopped to make way for the expansion of the Mundra-Chakwal Road and the Sohawa-Chakwal Road and the plants that will be planted in place of the chopped trees.
CDA serves notices on nine shopping centres
Earlier this month, a Senate panel had directed the apex civic agency of the federal capital to examine and submit a report on the work required to repair family suites in the Parliament Lodges.
CDA officials had told the Senate House Committee meeting that they were only given a budget of Rs176 million against the listed requirements of Rs400 million for the lodges.
Further, the CDA officials told the committee that they will need another Rs150 million for the seven lifts to be installed in the lodges, besides another Rs49 million for a fire alarm system.
