CDA serves notices on nine shopping centres

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday served notices to the owners of nine shopping centres, located in Zone-IV of the federal capital, for unauthorized construction and violating zoning regulations.

Issued by the Building Control II Directorate of the CDA, the notices said that the owners of these buildings in Sector C and Sector H have failed to address a previous notice on the violations of zoning regulations of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

CDA officials explained that these projects were being built or were operating without obtaining due approval from the authority.

Initially, they said, owners of these premises were directed to stop construction and solicit approval of their buildings from the authority.

However, now due to non-compliance, show cause notices have been issued. The owners have been directed to submit written replies within seven days on why their structures should not be demolished.

In the event the building owners fail to reply or give an unsatisfactory reply, strict action will be taken against them.
