‘1 million patients of Parkinson’s disease in Pakistan’

Around one million people in Pakistan have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and more than 4,000 patients were suffering from the disease in Balochistan, said Pakistan Society of Neurology President Prof Dr Saleem Bareech.
“The number of patients diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease are increasing on a regular basis and we have no official statistics of the affected people.
Besides, people in the age bracket of 60 to 100 are more vulnerable from the illness,” said Bareech while addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club along with Dr Ahmed Wali and Dr Amanullah Kakar.
Bareech maintained the patients need access to quality healthcare and they would not be ignored during the current situation of the coronavirus pandemic across the country.
He added Parkinson’s disease is a neurological disease which affects functions of brain.
