Civil Defence Department (CDD) has penalised five suppliers of oxygen gas cylinders for charging exorbitant rates from people. A CDD team under the supervision of Senior Instructor Sadaf Zahoor took action against the oxygen cylinder suppliers who were taking undue benefit of increased demand due to influx of coronavirus patients in hospitals. The actual price of refilling an oxygen cylinder is Rs3,000 to Rs5,000, whereas, some unscrupulous elements in the market were charging Rs25,000 to Rs30,000 citing short supply amid coronavirus outbreak.
