Police arrested a cousin of a deceased woman from Kasur on charges of her murder. The murder case of Naila, 31, was reported in Liaqatabad a few weeks ago. The accused, Azam, left for Kasur after he was included in the police interrogation over the suspicious death of Naila. Following his arrest, he revealed before the police that his cousin wanted to marry him. However, their parents did not agree for their marriage. Upon refusal by the family, they decided to elope to register their marriage through a court. He convinced his cousin to steal jewelry and other valuables from her home to use it for sustenance till the family agreed to let them return after marriage. In accordance with the plan, the victim brought money. After assessing the valuables worth Rs1.4 million, greed took over the accused and he decided to murder his cousin to get hold of all the valuables, the police said. Azam took her to Depalur in Okara and stabbed her to death in fields. Police said they were investigating the matter further.
