Drain encroachments to be razed

HYDERABAD:

As encroachments on stormwater drains in Hyderabad’s SITE area continue to pose an obstacle to desilting exercises amid looming monsoon rains, Hyderabad commissioner Muhammad Abbass Baloch asked SITE officials to remove them on Monday. Baloch assured them that the district administration would provide security and other support in the operation. He further lamented the destruction of greenbelts in the area due to negligence and asked the officials to begin taking the necessary steps for the beautification of the industrial zone. A shopping mall is among the industrial and commercial units that have encroached on the drains.
