HYDERABAD:

An inquiry into the gunshot injuries sustained by two men in an alleged encounter on Sunday night has been initiated on the orders of Hyderabad district SSP Adeel Hussain Chandio on Monday. The injured men, Abdul Sattar Mallah and Yar Muhammad Memon, alleged that the Hatri police shot them. According to Mallah and Memon, they were returning home in Matiari district when the police signaled them to stop. They added that they parked their motorcycle at a slight distance from the police as there was rainwater on the road, but as soon as they dismounted, the police opened fire on them. The police, on the other hand, have lodged a complaint on behalf of the state, claiming that the two received gunshots fired by two motorcycle snatchers during an exchange of fire with the police. SITE ASP Aneel Haider has been nominated in the inquiry.
