ISLAMABAD:

Television show host and writer Tariq Aziz was not only a great artist but a great philanthropist as well.

This was stated by participants of an online session organised by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Sunday to pay tribute to Aziz, who passed away last month.

Aziz was one of the icons whose contributions in the field of entertainment and literature are worth mentioning, said PNCA Director-General Dr Fauzia Saeed, who hosted the programme.

His name was an identity for Pakistani television and he was an academy in himself due to his versatile personality, she added.

Dr Saeed further highlighted Aziz’s film career, wherein he acted in about 36 films. However, the PNCA chief pointed out that many people do not know about this aspect of the showman.

Later, some clips from some of the films he had acted in were shown.

Film critic Aijaz Gul said Aziz had a multidimensional personality, juggling hats of a poet, actor, debater, and much more. His memory was remarkable, Khawaja Najmul Hassan said as he recalled all his sittings and work with Aziz. He also highlighted the television host’s spontaneity and command over different subjects.

Tajdaar Adal said that Aziz’s wife had played an instrumental role in making him successful. He was a great artist and a great philanthropist.
