K-P to set up digital city in Haripur

The provincial government has started fencing off land in the Eastern district of Haripur to build the country’s first-ever digital city.
Adviser to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) chief minister on Information Technology (IT) Ziaullah Bangash, in a statement issued on Sunday, said that the digital city will help generate 35,000 new jobs for locals.
Once complete, it will be the biggest project of the provincial government in the information technology sector.
The adviser further said the government has dedicated resources to equip the youth with modern education and IT skills, adding that not only will the project help create thousands of jobs but also boost the national economy.
The IT city is being set up on 160 kanals of land in Haripur, he said, adding that local and international technology companies will be offered special incentives to invest in the project.
Bangash further said that the K-P Information Technology Board (K-PITB) had recently decided that it will transform the site into a platform where a variety of businesses and technology corporations will be able to operate. The board had said it will allow private investors to lease land.
