Former CM aide accused of threatening brother

The former special assistant has a history of alleged involvement in illegal activities

HYDERABAD:

Muhammad Ibrahim Dahiri, the elder brother of former special assistant to Sindh chief minister Ismail Dahiri, has claimed that he and his family have received death threats from the latter.

Addressing a press conference in Nawabshah, Ibrahim said his brother wanted to occupy his agricultural land, fuel station and vehicles. "He is sending criminals who threaten to kill me if I don't accept his demands," he alleged, adding that Ismail had also threatened to have him booked in a narcotics case.

According to Ibrahim, he owns around 500 acres of agricultural land and his younger brother has allegedly asked him to hand over possession of it all.

Ibrahim appealed to the Sindh government and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Faryal Talpur to give protection to his family and take action against Ismail.

Ismail could not be contacted for comment on the matter.

The former special assistant has a history of alleged involvement in illegal activities.

He was arrested in a raid by the Rangers at his farmhouse in June, 2018, with the law enforcers claiming that prohibited weapons were seized from his possession during the raid.

Following this, an anti-terrorism court had convicted Ismail in December, 2019, sentencing him to 34 years of imprisonment. However, he was acquitted by the Sindh High Court in February.
