As dairy farmers agitate to raise the prices of milk, a committee has been formed to review the matter before an official price is fixed for the essential commodity.
Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani headed a meeting with milk wholesalers, retailers and dairy farmers associations on Friday.
The meeting decided to form an inspection committee, headed by additional commissioner Asad Ali and comprising representatives of milk retailers, wholesalers and consumers associations.
The committee is to review the matter before fixing official rates for milk and presenting its suggestions. Shallwani assured the dairy farmers and retailers that their demands would be considered, adding that until a decision was made, milk would continue to be sold at Rs94 per litre.
