Covid-19 claims eight more lives in Punjab

With 484 fresh infections on Friday, total cases exceed 89,000

The coronavirus disease claimed eight more lives in the province over the last 24 hours. As per details, the total number of Covid-19 cases in the province exceeded 89,000 after registration of 484 new cases in the last 24 hours.

According to the spokesperson of Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department on Friday the, total number of deaths were over 2,059 in the province.

The health department confirmed that 178 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in the provincial capital, eight new cases in Nankana Sahib, three in Kasur, five in Sheikhupura, 36 in Rawalpindi, seven in Jhelum, 17 in Gujranwala, 46 in Gujrat, nine in Mandi Bahauddin, 29 in Sialkot, one in Narowal, six in Hafizabad, one in Khanewal, six in Layyah, nine in Multan and 24 new cases in Faisalabad.

Moreover, six new cases were reported in Toba Tek Singh, 29 in Sialkot, two in Chiniotand two new cases of Covid-19 had been reported in Pakpattan district during the 24 hours.

Punjab health department had conducted more than 626,360 tests for Covid-19 so far, while at least 64,815 confirmed cases had recovered all together in the province. The health department officials also appealed to the citizens to adopt government-mandated SOPs for their protection and cover their faces with masks.
