Covid-19 claims 60 more lives in Punjab

Over 1,520 more diagnosed with novel coronavirus in 24 hours

LAHORE: The Covid-19 claimed 60 more lives in Punjab and the number of coronavirus cases exceeded 65,700 after more than 1,520 new virus cases were reported in the province during the last 24 hours.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department said on Sunday that the total number of deaths had crossed 1,400 in the province. The health department confirmed that 721 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in Lahore, 168 in Faisalabad and 134 in Multan.

During the period, 13 new cases were reported in Nankana Sahib, 13 in Kasur, 14 in Sheikhupura, 58 in Gujranwala, 51 in Sialkot, four in Narowal, 48 in Gujrat, 11 in Hafizabad, four in Mandi Bahauddin, 18 in Muzaffargarh, 25 in Vehari, 14 in Chiniot, 34 in Toba Tek Singh, 40 in Rahim Yar Khan, 12 in Mianwali, two in Khushab, 20 in Bahawalnagar and 40 in Bahawalpur district.

Punjab Health Department has conducted 417,270 tests for Covid-19 so far, while over 18,690 patients have recovered in the province. The department officials said that the citizens should wash their hands with soap several times in a day to protect themselves from the contagion. Helpline 1033 could be contacted immediately on noticing any symptoms of the infectious disease, the officials added.
