Police register murder case, send fingerprints to NADRA

Police have registered a case against unknown murderers of a woman whose body was found in a canal near Dengro Bridge three days ago.

The decapitated body was found in the precincts of Nishatabad police station.

The body was shifted to a hospital for postmortem by the police. According to the postmortem report, the woman was pregnant.

Three days ago, passers-by spotted the body of an unidentified 24-year-old woman floating in the Jhang Branch Canal near Dengro Bridge in Nishatabad area and informed the police. Nishatabad police registered cases against unknown accused under sections 302 and 201 on the statement of ASI Abdul Hafeez.

Three days later, the police also found the head of the woman the Rajaba post. According to police, the woman was beheaded with a sharp weapon and thrown into the canal.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Regional Police Officer Raja Rifat Mukhtar said that the motives behind the killing of women and bodies found in canals often revolve around domestic quarrels and honour. Mukhtar further said that the body found from Pul Dengro was 24 hours old.

Fingerprints of the deceased have been sent to the National Database and Registration Authority for her identification.

The RPO expressed regret over the murder of the woman and said the murderers will be brought to justice soon after investigating the case.
