Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi on Tuesday accused the Sindh government of tampering the JIT report on Peoples Amn Committee (PAC) chief Uzair Baloch, alleging that the "genunie" report carries names of senior PPP leaders and lawmakers.

He was addressing a press conference in Islamabad along with Information Minister Shibli Faraz.

"Original JIT report carrying the signatures of its members on every page except the representative of Sindh government and names of PPP leaders who patronised Uzair Baloch are also mentioned in it," claimed Zaidi.

A day earlier, Sindh police’s joint interrogation team (JIT) report had revealed that Uzair Baloch is directly or indirectly involved in the killings of 198 people, extortion, land grabbing, China-cutting and narcotics trafficking.

According to the report, the Lyari kingpin had confessed to these killings as well as the other crimes. It further said that Uzair also confessed to sharing sensitive information with the officials of Iranian intelligence agencies.

The maritime affairs minister, during today's presser, appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice and examine the authenticity of the controversial JIT reports.

"The accused who are named in the original JIT report are still sitting in the Parliament and enjoying perks and privileges at the cost of national exchequer," he added.

Zaidi said the report released by the provincial government did not explain as to on whose instructions the Liyari kingpin had killed the innocent people.

Speaking on the occassion, the information minister said the aim of PTI-led government is to inform the public about the facts.

"Ali Zaidi also raised the matter [of JIT] in the National Assembly because the PTI believed that the objective of forming the JITs was to tell the people facts about cases and to get to the culprits who supported gangs in Karachi," he added.

He hailed the maritime affairs minister for approaching the courts for the release of JIT reports on Uzair Baloch, Nisar Morai and Baldia factory fire inferno.

Responding to the accusations, Sindh government's spokesperson Murtaza Wahab said the provincial govement fulfilled its promise of releasing the JIT reports in compliance with the court's order.

Setting aside the claims of PTI minister that JIT reports were tampered, the PPP leader said that all documents had been verified through signatures and stamp of officials before being made public.
