CTD registers case for cop’s murder

Police constable killed in Manzoor Colony yesterday

KARACHI:

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) registered on Saturday a case for the alleged targeted killing of a police constable in Manzoor Colony the previous day.

The deceased police official, identified as 26-year-old Noman, was reportedly going home after night duty when two armed suspects on a motorcycle shot him in the head near Awami Chowk.

The case was registered on behalf of Noman's brother, Ashir Ali, with sections dealing with murder and attempted murder.

Baloch Colony SHO Ehsan Channa revealed that Noman was a Sindh Reserve Police official deputed at the South Zone Madadgar 15 police. Channa added that Noman was laid to rest in the Mehmoodabad graveyard on Friday.

The police suspected the attack was premeditated and are looking into CCTV footage from cameras installed in the surroundings of the crime scene.
