The Anti-Violent Crime Cell police claimed on Thursday to have rescued an abducted child after an alleged encounter with the kidnappers in Ittehad Town.
The police had traced the location of the kidnappers with the help of the mobile phone used to make a ransom call demanding Rs10 million from the six-year-old child's father.
When they raided a house in Ittehad Town, the suspects opened fire on them, leaving a policeman injured. The law enforcers retaliated and injured all three suspects, taking them to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital in police custody.
All three of them succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Their identities could not be ascertained immediately and the bodies were shifted to the Edhi Morgue after the completion of medico-legal formalities
The kidnappers had abducted Waqarullah from Metroville on June 29. His father, Sabirullah, told the police in his statement that while he was on his way back from work on the day, he had received a call from his friend, informing him his son had been kidnapped from near his house by unidentified men in a Suzuki hi-roof.
Sabirullah had immediately complained to the police and a case was registered at SITE A police station.
