KARACHI:

A woman, her son and her daughter were injured in a house robbery attempt in Gulistan-e-Hadeed on Thursday.

Three robbers reportedly entered their home using a ladder at around 3am, collecting valuables from a cupboard in the hallway. Hearing the noise, the woman, namely 55-year-old Khadija, and her husband came out of their room, upon which one of the suspects attacked the woman with an axe.

Meanwhile, their daughter, Farhana Ansari, also came out on hearing the commotion and started shouting, due to which the suspects opened fire on the residents, shooting Khadija and Farhana. The robbers then ran upstairs, barging into the room of the son, Zafar Ali Ansari. They first beat him with sticks and then shot him in the arm.

The armed men managed to flee from the house under cover of fire, while the three injured people were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Khadija and Farhana were said to be in critical condition.

The police arrived after being informed and collected evidence from the house. They said they would register a case after recording the statements of the injured. Further investigation is underway.
