Police arrest 125 people from across Faisalabad

Police took action against kite flying, nabbing as many as 125 people and sealing seven factories and four godowns during the past 24 hours.

A police spokesman said on Tuesday that after the death of a teenage motorcyclist in People’s Colony last week, the city police officer (CPO) issued special directives for taking strict action against kite flying.

Teams from Ghulam Muhammad Abad, Gulberg, Jhang Bazaar, Kotwali, Civil Lines, Rail Bazaar, Madina Town, Sargodha Road, Millat Town, Mansoorabad, People’s Colony, Batala Colony, Factory Area and Saddar police stations conducted operations against kite flying in the city and nabbed 125 people. Giving details, the spokesperson added that 41 accused were nabbed from Madina Town and 38 from Lyallpur division, while 18 were arrested from Iqbal Town division.

He said that the police unearthed seven factories and four godowns of kite manufacturers and dealers, besides seizing 145,896 kites and 832 bundles of string during the period. Meanwhile, the CPO suspended People’s Colony SHO Inspector Mohsin Munir on the charge of negligence in this regard.

Last week, a motorcyclist named Hamza Sarwar was killed in People’s Colony area when the twine of a stray kite slit his throat.
