10-year-old dies after falling from building

MULTAN:

A 10-year-old boy fell from the third floor of a house while playing and died during treatment in The Children's Complex in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Aden, son of Raza, a resident of New Multan, suffered a severe head injury.

Despite an hour's efforts by doctors, the minor could not survive.

The doctor who was on duty informed the family that the child had died.

After hearing about the death of Aden, his family got furious and attacked the doctor, leaving him injured.

Upon receiving the information, a heavy contingent of police reached the spot and the hospital AMS also arrived.

The heirs continued to use abusive language, though the attackers managed to escape.

Doctors threatened to stop work in the emergency award after the incident. However, on the assurance of the medical superintendent, they continued to work.

Meanwhile, the body of Aden kept lying in the hospital for four hours due to the altercation between the family and doctors. It was later handed over to the child's mother after the intervention of the police.

Leaders of the PMA, Young Doctors Association and other groups said Punjab government should take necessary action to protect the doctors.

They maintained that increasing incidents of violence against medical staff in government hospitals were causing widespread unrest in the community.
