Golf: O’Hern leads at Reno
The 39-year-old had the only round without a bogey on the Jack Nicklaus-designed Montreaux Golf.
RENO:
Australia’s Nick O’Hern made the most of the morning’s favourable scoring conditions, firing a seven-under 65 for a one-shot lead after the first round of the US PGA Tour Reno-Tahoe Open. The 39-year-old had the only round without a bogey on the Jack Nicklaus-designed Montreaux Golf and Country Club layout, where Chris Riley was second on 66. “Can’t play much better than that,” said O’Hern, who made six of his seven birdies from inside 10 feet. His opponent Riley, a former star at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, had one bogey in his six-under effort.
