Formula One: Ecclestone against electric pit motors

BERLIN: Bernie Ecclestone, head of Formula One commercial rights, has criticised the new electric pit motor idea of 2014. “It’s absolutely not the right place to have electric engines,” said Ecclestone. “It’s like having ballet dancers with sneakers - more comfortable, but it doesn’t work. There’s no way that it will be electric in the pit lane. People could be killed because they won’t hear the cars coming.” Ecclestone claimed that the idea is of long-term friend and former FIA president Max Mosley, as opposed to current leader of the federation Jean Todt.
