PESHAWAR:
The three police officials allegedly involved in torture, abuse and stripping a man naked have been remanded into custody by a judicial magistrate for two days.

Meanwhile, the provincial top court also took notice of the matter.  Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sanaullah Abbasi and Peshawar CCPO appeared before the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday in response to summons issued by Justice Qaiser Rashid.

Justice Qaiser asked what was happening, in which direction the police are headed.

The history of police is full of sacrifices, and yet, on the other hand, we have such incidents, he remarked.

He observed that the incident has shaken the foundations of society and brought a bad name to the entire department.

“You have appointed mentally unfit people as SHOs. The position of an SHO comes with great responsibility, you should test to see if they are mentally sound.”
