RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has begun cleaning storm drains ahead of the monsoon season.

The cleaning activity was initiated at the storm drain located in the Gawalmandi area, Ward-III, which is a low-lying area and often gets inundated due to overflowing.

The operation would be carried out under the supervision of PHO Officer Muhammad Waris Bharri while Ward Inspector Mazhar Hussain and Area Supervisor Najeeb Pirzada would assist the operation.

Provinces asked to get ready for monsoon

The RCB staff would remove litter from all storm drains located in its jurisdiction while those located in the low-lying areas would be preferred.

The officials said that the operation was being done to remove impediments from the choked drains before the start of the monsoon season. They added that timely cleaning of drains would ensure the safety of public properties as it would prevent overflowing.
