FAISALABAD: Police claimed to have arrested a young man for throwing acid on a girl after a breakup with her in Razaabad on Friday.

The girl sustained severe burn injuries and was shifted to a hospital. Police raided the house and claimed to have arrested the accused and registered a case against him.

Police said 26-year-old Komal, daughter of Mazhar Ali, a resident of Sher Singh Wala was a friend of the accused Arman Shah for nine years.

Shah was a resident of Kokianwala and worked at a printing paper factory. They had a plan to tie the knot soon.

For the past one week, Komal was upset with Shah because of a quarrel and ended her friendship with him. She stopped receiving his calls and was not in contact with him.

Shah was infuriated and found an opportunity to punish her. On the day of the incident, the accused threw acid on Komal which severely burnt her eyes, face and hands. She was on her way to visit her aunt.

Upon receiving the report of the incident, CPO Sohail Chaudhry assigned the task of arresting the accused to Razaabad SHO Sub-Inspector Junaid Nazir Gujjar who raided various places and arrested the accused and a case was registered on Komal’s statement.
