Post-lockdown: Minister wants swift NPPMCL privatisation

The consortium briefed the Privatisation Commission on the progress made in negotiations with various bidders

ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan is easing lockdown, the timelines and milestones for completion of privatisation process of National Power Parks Management Company Limited (NPPMCL) must be met with speed and efficiency, said Federal Minister for Privatisation Mohammad Mian Soomro.

He made the remarks in a meeting of the Financial Advisory Consortium (FAC) held on Tuesday to review the privatisation process for NPPMCL. The minister emphasised the importance of completing the transaction on a priority basis to generate non-tax revenue for the country.

The consortium briefed the Privatisation Commission on the progress made in negotiations with various bidders with respect to the sale-purchase agreement and project documents for the transaction.

The consortium told the minister that comments of the potential bidders had been incorporated into the sale-purchase agreement.
