The new feature allows users to start a call through Instagram but will redirect to Messenger for the actual video call.
Here is a breakdown of how you can start an Instagram video chat with Messenger Rooms:
First head to ‘Direct’, the small arrow you see on the top right corner.
Then tap on the video icon in the top right corner, proceed to select ‘Create a Room’, and then tap the Create Room option.

Further, choose up to 49 friends and hit ‘Send’, now tap ‘Join Room” to be redirected to the video chat you have created.
