IDWP approves 122 schemes for rural areas

Projects stipulated to be completed in the next three years

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Development Working Party (IDWP) on Monday approved 122 development projects for the rural areas of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) worth Rs27.594 billion.

A meeting of the party was chaired by the Islamabad Chief Commissioner Amir Ali Ahmed on Monday. It was also attended by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member National Assembly from the federal capital Khurram Nawaz, and officials from the planning division, the finance division and the interior ministry.

The meeting reviewed and approved 122 projects for Rs27.594 billion. The party, however, deferred a plan for building a tehsil office, a lift and review of an already-approved scheme until its next meeting.

The projects which were approved include construction of roads in the rural areas of the federal capital at a cost of Rs121.56 billion, sanitation projects for Rs120.25 billion, water supply schemes for Rs2.549 billion and bridges in each of NA-52, NA-53 and NA-54 worth Rs863.819 million.

These projects are stipulated to be completed in the next three years.

Chief Commissioner Ahmed urged the department to ensure that the work on these projects meets the set quality standards and is completed on time.
