KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued a stay order against the government directive to close Balochistan and Sindh CNG stations once a week.

A petition was filed in the Sindh High Court against the closure of CNG stations.

Petitioner urged the court to nullify OGRA's notification for weekly closure of gas stations. The plan was adopted as part of the energy conservation plan.

It argued that as the largest gas producing province, Sindh's gas demands should be met first. As a result, SHC issued a stay order on the closure and suspended OGRA's notification temporarily.

Earlier this week, the All Pakistan CNG Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, announced not to observe ‘forced’ weekly gas holiday. The announcement was made after a similar verdict by the Peshawar High Court.
