25 arrested in Golra Sharif firing case

Police arrested 25 people, including the main accused Saddiq, who had killed a police constable in Golra Sharif.

Police arrested 25 people on Friday, including the main accused Saddiq, who had killed a police constable and injured three police officials outside the Golra Sharif Shrine near Islamabad.

Saddiq had opened fire on the police after they forbade him not to fire gunshots during a religious ceremony outside the Shrine.

Constable Mushtaq Hussain lost his life while three policemen including ASI Tarabul Hassan were injured.

Police cordoned off the area and started a search operation.

Saddiq and other suspects were been arrested and FIR has also been registered.

The incident occurred when a procession of devotees carrying a ceremonial palanquin for their yearly offering to the shrine of Baba Fazal Shah started aerial firing despite a ban on the activity.

A police party was sent from the nearby Golra Police Station to investigate the firing. They asked the devotees to stop the firing and tried to arrest one of them.

The devotees subsequently opened fire on the police in front of the main compound of the shrine, killing Constable Mushtaq Hussain on the spot. Constables Muhammad Arshad and Muhammad Saleem, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Terabul Hassan were critically injured. They were shifted to Pims and are now in stable condition, police officials said.

After the attack, the devotees had taken advantage of the large crowd present outside the shrine’s main compound and had fled the scene.

The pir sahiban PIR KHANAN, other arrested and accused were not present at the incident of firing. Pir sahiban were at the place of distribution of “langer” and that time, so i protest against all done by police and hidden hand,

Amir Hussain Shah | 14 years ago | Reply Assalamo alikum, We strongly condemn the killing of peoples by aerial firing, As commented by Nasir and evident by many at the locations, that incident of firing is an accident and happened due to the persons personal act. So I protest against the action taken against the pir Sahiban. The pir sahiban PIR KHANAN, other arrested and accused were not present at the incident of firing. Pir sahiban were at the place of distribution of "langer" and that time. So we hope that higher authorities will took notice of the wrong action taken by police against Pir sahiban and others, and will release them as soon as possible.

dr shoaib | 14 years ago | Reply Asslaam u aliakum i dont know about Mr.nasir but i read his comments and apricieate his tru. most people are victum this incident most people that aarested they were distributing the lunch “LANGAR”, among the devotees on the shrine. And were not present at the place where all this happened. How on earth these noble people were involved in all this.I strongly protest against this act of holding the Pir Sahibans and other for this incident.

I categorically say on this forum that Pir Sahiban collectively forbade people from doing Ariel firing but they did at their own, I also condemn the act that Saddiq as we lost two of our brothers (by the time dead policemen are two). We pray for them to Allah for their eternal rest. We also condole the families of the dead. But please note this is can be a dangerous conspiracy. It is quite simple that if Saddiq's son was arrested by police, they would not have killed him, simply they would have brought to the justice and the accused/culprit should be brought to the book. But from now where Mr. Saddiq appeared and start firing on the police. Right now 2 of the Pir Sahibans are also arrested, even though they were distributing the lunch "LANGAR", among the devotees on the shrine. And were not present at the place where all this happened. How on earth these noble people were involved in all this. I strongly protest against this act of holding the Pir Sahibans for this incident. Police guys have done several mistakes on the other hand also, which I do not want to go into the details.
