NHA conducting GIS survey of highways
Authority is taking measures to effectively benefit from right of way along highways and motorways

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has initiated a project to conduct Geographic Information System (GIS) survey of highways across the country which would increase the authority’s revenue manifold.
According to details, the NHA is taking different measures to effectively benefit from the right of way along the highways and motorways.
Under the GISS, a complete record of utilities and commercial amenities available on the right of way with the NHA network across the country is being digitalised.
Wide-ranging transfers, postings in NHA
This way, the authority will be able to acquire the record of government and private services offered on the right of way and derive revenue according to the rules and regulations.
The complete Geographic Information System Survey of the NHA network and promotion of geo-data started in June last year.
The project comprises three phases and will be completed in 18 months.
The survey of pilot section from Rawalpindi Sawan bridge till Kharian has been completed.
In phase I, the entry of commercial points along with Karachi-Multan and Lahore-Peshawar 1,819km national highway was completed in November 2019 and 12,500 notices were issued.
NHA working to improve road infrastructure
In phase II, verification of commercial amenities on Hasan Abdal-Abbottabad, Gilgit-Khunjerab (N-35), Kotri-Larkana, DG Khan-DI Khan- Peshawar Indus Highway, Larkana-Naudero-Lakki Shahrah (N-105), Larkana-Qambar-Shahdadkot (N-455) and Ratodero-Naudero Road (N-655) continues.
In phase III, the field survey of roads in Sindh and Balochistan continues and will be completed in May 2020.
With the completion of this project, a complete record and data of right of way will be acquired which would be used for increase in revenue of the authority.
