Meeting participants informed of action against 1,322 profiteers

Punjab Chief Secretary Jawwad Rafique Malik has directed the officers concerned to ensure reduction in the cost of daily-use commodities so that benefit of the recent decrease in petroleum products’ prices is passed on to the people.
He issued the directives during a meeting presided over by Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat to review impact of fall in oil prices on eatables, action against profiteering and hoarding, the coronavirus situation, wheat procurement and steps to combat locust in the province.

The CS said prices of daily-use items, especially eatables, should be slashed after a significant dip in POL prices so that people could be given relief. He ordered stern action against profiteers. The meeting was informed that during the last two week as many as 1,322 persons were arrested, 1,226 cases were registered and a fine of Rs60.627 million was imposed.
