The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) carried out a grand operation against business owners involved in milk adulteration on Sunday.
The dairy safety teams (DSTs) disposed of 850 litres of tainted milk in Taxali gate area, Lahore.
A total of 5,250 litres of milk was inspected by PFA at 15 milk shops. Warning notices were served to eight shops over poor quality milk.
PFA Director General (DG) Irfan Memon said that DSTs used lactoscan milk analyser machine to quickly analyse milk samples on spot.
He said, Hajveri, Ali Hajveri, Imtiaz, Faisal, Faryad, Jeda Lassi Butter, Rashid and Ehsan milk shops were found involved in the sale of adulterated milk.
“All milk found with low level of lactometre reading and contaminates such as powder, chemicals and polluted water was thrown away on the spot,” he explained.
