DERA GHAZI KHAN: Dera Ghazi Khan Teaching Hospital became a battleground between two groups of Young Doctors’ Association (YDA) on Sunday.

Doors, windows and flowerpots were broken during the fight in an official residence. Both groups blamed each other for the clash.

Local YDA President Dr Noman Chaudhry, Dr Omar and House Officer Luqman had an altercation first in a WhatsApp group and later on phone. After this Dr Omar took the house officer to a room in the Trauma Centre and allegedly tortured him.

The other group claimed that Dr Chaudhry, along with about 20 others, entered Dr Omar's official residence, injuring Dr Wajid Buzdar, Dr Adnan Nawaz and Dr Ayaz Haider and broke the doors, windows and flowerpots.

The injured included Dr Wajid Bazdar and others, who demanded that medical superintendent, principal of the teaching hospital and the administration take legal action against the doctors who had attacked them. They said the hospital administration would be responsible if the situation deteriorated due to lack of action against the attackers.

Dr Chaudhry said Dr Omar had attacked senior officer Dr Luqman. On the other hand, the patients faced problems due to the quarrel among the doctors.

An attempt was made to contact MS Dr Shahid Hussain Magsi about the action taken on the issue, but he was not present in the office and his mobile phone was switched off.
