PFA seals pickle, bottle production units
The raiding team discarded 26,630 kilogrammes of unwholesome food

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Thursday sealed pickle and bottle production units for not complying with the health and safety protocols.
The raiding team discarded 26,630 kilogrammes of unwholesome food including 13,500 spurious beverages, fungus infected mangoes, carrots, chilies and apples weighing 5,850 kilogrammes, 5,720 kilogrammes, 910 kilogrammes and 650 kilogrammes, respectively.
PFA Director General Irfan Nawaz Memon said acting on a tipoff, PFA team had raided Owais Pickle unit in the area of Hassan Town Baradari and sealed it.
“Pickle was being prepared with rotten fruits and was chemically contaminated,” he highlighted.
The team also witnessed the use of non-food graded drums for preserving pickle, fungus layers, dead mosquitoes and an abundance of flies.
