Mustafa Kamal calls for resuming business activities
He pointed towards "a dangerous impression among Karachiites," of destabilising the country's financial hub
Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chairperson Mustafa Kamal called on Wednesday for the federal and the Sindh government to allow traders to resume business so that people did not die of hunger, since the governments had failed to live up to the promise of delivering rations at their doorsteps.
Meeting a delegation of the All Karachi Tajir Ittehad (AKTI), Kamal stressed that the government needed to devise a strategy for traders, aimed at not just avoiding starvation but also deaths due to the coronavirus.
He pointed towards "a dangerous impression among Karachiites," of destabilising the country's financial hub.
"First, the status of the port city was changed, then its citizens were deprived of government jobs, then key institutions in the city were shifted to other places and now, the last source of its citizens survival, business, is also being destroyed due to the biases of the federal and the provincial government," he said. The PSP chief lamented that Karachi was deprived of its fundamental rights despite contributing the lion's share to the national exchequer.
