MIANWALI:
While keeping in view the coronavirus protocol at procurement centres, 126,000 bags of wheat have been purchased at all six purchasing centres in Mianwali district so far.
Briefing Deputy Commissioner Omar Sher Chattah in a wheat procurement review meeting on Wednesday, the district food controller (DFC) said that adopting the principle of ‘first come, first serve’, over 500,000 gunny bags had been delivered to 1,671 cultivators.
He added that it was hoped that the department would achieve the wheat procurement target of 727,000 tonnes before time, adding that for prevention of wheat transportation from the district to K-P, strict vigilance was being exercised at seven check posts in the district.
The deputy commissioner directed the DFC to ensure the addressing of valid complaints of the cultivators in wheat purchase centres.
