Cid sweep: 4 TTP men arrested

Four Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, one Lashkar-e-Jhangvi man and two gangsters were arrested.

With the help of an informant, the anti-extremism cell of the Crime Investigation Department arrested seven suspects belonging to different banned outfits and gangs on Sunday.


Four Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, one Lashkar-e-Jhangvi man and two gangsters were arrested, said AEC chief SSP Chaudhry Aslam Khan.

The TTP men were identified as Abdul Rehman, Nazrab Khan, Azhar Mehmood and Ahmed Khan, picked up from Sohrab Goth along with one Kalashnikov, one repeater gun, two hand grenades and three TT pistols. They were extorting money from the business community and had sent millions of rupees to their commander Abdul Wali aka Omar Khalid in Waziristan.

The police suspect that they are involved in target killings.

In another raid, an alleged member of the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Wasim Chanar, was claimed to be arrested from Jamshed Quarters with a Klashnikov. SSP Khan said he was involved in killing members of a minority sect. Two alleged gangsters associated with the Razzak Commando group were arrested from Mauripur Road. The suspects, identified as Babar and Maqsood, were wanted for robbery and extortion. The police seized two Kalashnikovs, two repeater guns, one hand grenade and five TT pistols from them.
