Missing girl found dead

Suspect confesses to killing, raping the child and later led the police to the spot where he had left her body

HYDERABAD: A nine-year-old girl who went missing on Wednesday was found dead in Quaid Park on Thursday.

According to the GOR Colony police, the body was found after the suspected murderer was arrested and revealed where he had left the body of the nine-year-old girl after raping and killing her.

The body was shifted to Liaquat University Hospital for postmortem, while the report has not yet been released.

Meanwhile, an FIR was registered against the suspect at GOR Colony police station on behalf of the deceased's uncle, Irshad Ali Odho. According to Odho, he saw the suspect with his niece before she went missing and when he stopped and asked her where they were going, she told him they were going to shop for clothes and shoes. Odho then went to his brother's house and the family began searching for the girl when she didn't return even after an hour and a half, he said.

The family searched for the missing girl in the neighbourhood where the suspect lived, as well as other areas, but unable to find her or the suspect, they informed the police about the incident.

The police began searching for the suspect, who was arrested on Wednesday night. He confessed to killing and raping the child and later led the police to the spot where he had left her body.

Later, when police obtained his three-day physical remand, the suspect attempted suicide on Friday and was rushed to the emergency ward of Liaquat University Hospital.
