ABBOTABAD: Ulema and religious scholars should help the government in implementing the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, said Abbottabad Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Mughis Sanaullah on Thursday.

He urged the ulema to see to it that prayer leaders and management of the mosques follow precautionary measures like sanitisation and social distancing.

Sanaullah expressed these views during his visit to mosques including Police Line Mosque, Al Badar Mosque, and Sehtti Mosque.

He said that ulema could play an effective role in battling coronavirus, they should educate masses to follow these standard operating procedures, which had been devised unanimously by government and ulema.

He said they should implement precautionary measures like social distancing, washing mosques with anti-bacterial chemicals, and performing prayers without carpet on the floor besides other safety procedures.
