PDWP clears Defence Chowk remodelling project

Provincial government has already approved a project to remodel the Kacheri Chowk with an interchange and flyover

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has approved a project to remodel Defense Chowk with the construction of a flyover and interchange for the smooth flow of traffic through the area.

Following approval from the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), the Punjab Planning and Development Department directed the project’s executing agency, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to prepare a feasibility report for the project.

The provincial government has already approved a project to remodel the Kacheri Chowk with an interchange and flyover and the process of awarding a contract to devise feasibility for the project has commenced.

After Kacheri Chow, Defense Chowk is the busiest intersection in Rawalpindi as it has to deal with traffic coming from Al- Shifa Eye Trust, Gulistan Colony, Morgarh, DHA, Grand Trunk (GT) Road -Kacheri side and GT Road - Lahore Side.
