RAWALPINDI: A court in Rawalpindi extended the judicial remand of Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Anjum Aqeel by 10 days, as the legislator could not show up for the hearing of a fraud case due to his illness on Saturday.

Anjum Aqeel was sent on a judicial remand two weeks ago over a land scam in the National Police Foundation (NPF).

He could not appear in the court as he was receiving medical treatment at a hospital.

However, 28 other co-accused were present in the court, but no challan was submitted against them due to the absence of the main accused, Aqeel.

The court directed the challan to be submitted against the accused, including the MNA, in the next hearing.

Two weeks ago, a senior civil judge in Islamabad rejected the plea of Aqeel seeking nullification of the NPF fraud case and other cases and ordered for him to be sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
