ISLAMABAD:
The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has recently enrolled several Afghan refugees in its educational programmes, including in matriculation and Federal Arts (intermediate) programmes, to help them improve their education while living in Pakistan.

The Educational Rehabilitation Institute for Afghan Refugees in Balochistan said that AIOU is considered to be the best option for meeting the educational needs of Afghan refugees.

As per the academic plan, AIOU will provide the refugees with learning facilities in their camps including textbooks sent by post and tutors who will visit and guide them in the camps. The university will also conduct the exams in their camps.

Afghan refugees living all over the country are being rehabilitated in the health, vocational training and education sectors through their financial and infrastructural support by the government and other international organizations.

During admissions for the spring semester this year, efforts were made to enrol refugees as per their desire and convenience in Balochistan. In this process, around 150 Afghans were registered.
