Five of 40 missing FC soldiers found

Afghan police on Thursday handed over five soldiers of the Frontier Corps to Pakistan who were missing for the past two days.

PESHAWAR: Afghan police handed over five of 40 soldiers of the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) to Pakistani officials that were missing for the past two days in Mohmand region, reported a private TV channel on Wednesday.

The channel quoted DG ISPR Major General Athar Abbas as saying that that 40 FC soldiers went missing after Afghan militants on Monday attacked a police check post located between Mohmand and Bajaur Agency.

"Five of 40 FC soldiers have reached Pakistani consulate in Jalalabad," Athar Abbas said.

Afghan police has handed over five FC soldiers to Pakistani officials while 35 are still missing, sources said.
