IGP wants inquiry against SHOs expedited

ISLAMABAD: With two fatalities from the novel coronavirus reported and a locality still sealed, the top cop of the federal capital on Tuesday directed officials to ensure strict checking after 10pm daily.

This was directed by Islamabad police Inspector General (IGP) Aamir Zulfiqar Khan as he presided over a meeting to review the overall policing efforts in the federal capital and discussed a future strategy for combating the virus and maintaining law and order.

The meeting also reviewed efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus by ensuring the implementation of the directions of the government.

IGP Zulfiqar directed to monitor all policing measures in this regard and to ensure the investigation of cases on merit.

He appreciated the efforts of the operational division of the police, headed by Operations-DIG Waqaruddin Syed, in creating awareness among citizens against coronavirus and ensuring effective action against criminal elements.

The IGP further directed to accelerate efforts for effective policing and involving the community in various police-related affairs. He directed police officials to be polite in public dealing and always greet people before initiating conversation.

“Successful policing is not possible without the cooperation of community members and they should be taken into confidence regarding efforts against crime as well as anti-social elements,” he added.

The police chief directed to complete inquiries against the suspended police officials including two SHOs, at earliest so that strict disciplinary action can be taken against them. if they are found involved in corruption.
