FAISALABAD:

The Punjab government will provide 10-kilogramme flour bags at a subsidised rate of Rs210 and 20kg bags at Rs415 in 325 Ramazan bazaars across the province compared to open market prices of Rs220 and Rs440, respectively.

Provincial Food Department Secretary Irfan Ali said this while discussing arrangements for Ramazan bazaars in Faisalabad with Commissioner Tahir Hussain here on Thursday.

He said quality wheat would be provided to flour mills for producing white and high-quality flour and he along with officials of quality testing laboratories would visit the mills to check the quality of flour.

He said stern action would be taken against profiteers and officials found involved in corruption and irregularities.

He said sugar would also be sold at subsidised rates in Ramazan bazaars as effective arrangements had been made with sugar millers and dealers.

The commissioner said arrangements for setting up the bazaars at district and tehsil levels had been completed and a price monitoring mechanism had been finalised.
