GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman has sought Prime Minister Imran Khan’s help to bring back families stranded in other cities following the lockdown.
“There are students and families stuck in different cities who want to return,” he said while addressing the National Coordination Committee meeting chaired by the prime minister on Wednesday through a video link.
Hafeezur Rehman put forward his appeal as the lockdown entered the 10th day with the tally of coronavirus patients reaching 169.
“We will bring them back. Other provincial governments should be directed to cooperate with us,” he said.
The G-B chief minister added that, “we have G-B government supported bus service – NATCO – which will be used to bring back the stranded families. Those brought back would properly be screened for coronavirus in G-B.”
CM G-B related that the testing capacity was being increased upto 100 tests per day. “The rapid testing kits provided by Sinkiang government will enhance testing capacity of health department.”
Rehman also asked the prime minister to allow the National Logistic Cell (NLC) and Frontier Works Organisation to continue working in a controlled environment on projects important for the development G-B.
