Officers of the National Highways and Motorways Police (NHMP) on Tuesday found and later reunited a nine-year-old boy with his parents.

A statement from the North Zone of the motorways police said that Inspector Sajida Butt and SI Waseem Mushtaq were on routine patrols when they found a boy wandering alone.

After initial investigations, the officers learnt that the boy was nine-years-old and that his name was Shahmeer Rasheed. They also discovered that the boy was mentally challenged.

The officers brought the boy back to the camp office and informed all other patrols to trace the boy’s parents. Inspector Fahad Ajmal and Inspector Tahir Nagra managed to find the boy’s parents near Mohra Mandoo Mandra.

The parents were called to the camp office, and, after codal formalities, the child was handed over to his father in the presence of their neighbour Ansar Mehmood.

N-5 North Zone DIG Alam Shinwari appreciated the efforts of the officers.
